Tree shines bright for County cancer patients; Star dedicated in memory of Ruel Flannery
The official lighting of the Community Tree in Presque Isle, located in front of Machias Savings Bank, took place on Friday evening, December 2, as part of the Lights of Life effort now underway by The Aroostook Medical Center.
TAMC recognized for quality and safety
The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle has recently been recognized for both safety and quality of care by national organizations. This fall TAMC earned an “A” for safety from Leapfrog, 4 stars for quality from CMS and Best Performer and Exceeding Quality Awards from Avatar for 2016.
Lights of Life Project underway to raise funds to support cancer care
This holiday season, County residents will once again have the opportunity to support cancer care locally while celebrating, honoring or remembering those they love.
TAMC and nurses reach an agreement
Unionized nurses at The Aroostook Medical Center and the TAMC Board of Trustees each voted on November 10 to ratify a new contract between the Presque Isle healthcare facility and the Maine State Nurses Association. Nurses at TAMC have been working without a contract since early July.
Coverage expanded for TAMC’s Walk-In Clinic
The Aroostook Medical Center has expanded the hours in their Walk In Care clinic at North Street Healthcare to better serve community needs. The clinic is now open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day, including weekends and holidays.
Gowen leads TAMC philanthropy efforts
The Aroostook Medical Center and the EMHS Foundation have welcomed Hollie Gowen as the new TAMC Foundation philanthropy officer. The TAMC Foundation, as a member of the EMHS Foundation, is dedicated to raising funds to strengthen TAMC programs and services and to support patient care.
TAMC’s Aroostook Cancer Care achieves QOPI certification for quality care
TAMC’s Aroostook Cancer Care Center has been recognized for quality cancer care at a national level by the QOPI Certification Program (QCP), an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. QCP builds on the organization’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI). Aroostook Cancer Center is one of only five such certified centers in the state.

TAMC welcomed the following “Special Deliveries” born at AR Gould Memorial Hospital in Presque Isle during the month of September, 2016.
Naseri joins team at Aroostook Cancer Care
Dr. Hussain Naseri, a medical oncologist, has joined the team at TAMC’s Aroostook Cancer Care. He is helping to provide full spectrum cancer and blood disorder care to patients throughout Aroostook County.
TAMC’s Acute Rehab Unit holds emotional reunion for staff and patients
National Rehabilitation Awareness Week was the week of September 18. On Wednesday, September 21, the staff at TAMC’s Acute Rehabilitation Unit held an emotional reunion with some former patients at the TAMC Conference Center in Presque Isle and it proved to be just what the doctor ordered.
