What is a Registered Dietitian?
A registered dietitian is a food and nutrition specialist who has met academic and training requirements to earn the RD credential. All dietitians in the state of Maine must also be licensed by the Board of Dietetic Practice. Registered dietitians can provide credible nutrition guidance and sound advice about your overall nutrition and well-being.
Registered dietitians educate patients about diabetes, cholesterol and heart disease, pregnancy nutrition, dialysis, weight loss, GI problems, and high blood pressure. If you want to make and appointment with a TAMC dietitian, ask your primary healthcare provider. You will also want to check to see if this service is covered by your health insurance.
Please contact your primary healthcare provider if you have any questions about nutrition services. |
