We recognize that sometimes babies aren't ready to leave the hospital as soon as their mother, and it can be very difficult to go home and leave your baby behind. In order to help facilitate bonding and prevent prolonged separation of mom and baby, TAMC has a live-in mother program. If you are discharged and your baby has to stay, you will be given the option to be a live-in mom. You will be officially discharged and no longer a patient, but you will be able to retain your room at the hospital at no cost to you. You will be able to come and go as you please, and will be able to sleep here at night.
The program has the following stipulations:
- If the unit becomes too full and we need your bed for a patient, you will be asked to give it up, or to move to a different room.
- You are no longer a patient and therefore you will be responsible for your own meals, medications and care. You are welcome to use the shower room and to get refreshments from the kitchen.
- Your visitors will need to follow the same guidelines for visitations as patients: Only 2 visitors to a bedside, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
