Our team approach and partnership with patients and their families ensures one-on-one attention, enabling patients to reach their goals faster.
Physiatrist - Physiatrists are physicians who specialize in rehabilitation. They are experts in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of physical disabilities of all types. Working with your specialized therapy team, our physiatrists strive to maximize each patient's physical function, quality of life, and independence. Dr. Stephen Wood is our Acute Rehab Medical Director. He and the consulting physiatrists are ultimately responsible for patient care while in the Acute Rehab Unit. Other physicians from The Aroostook Medical Center may also provide care.
Physical Therapy (PT) - Works with patients in their efforts to overcome temporary pain and disability and to restore functional range of motion, strength, and mobility.
Occupational Therapy (OT) - Aids in the restoration of day-to-day functional skills, addresses needs for adaptive equipment, and evaluates the home to eliminate barriers that may interfere with a person's safety.
Speech Therapy (ST) - Evaluates and treats the patient's communication and thinking skills. ST also provides feeding and swallowing evaluation and treatment.
Rehabilitation Nursing - A registered nurse, with specialized training in rehabilitation care, will work with each patient throughout their stay to help with daily needs and evaluate progress.
Respiratory Therapy (RT) - Educates the pulmonary patient about their lung/breathing related disease processes, medications, therapy treatments, breathing techniques, and exercise training.
Social Worker (SW) - Counsels each patient/ family member about emotional and financial concerns and assists with all areas of discharge planning including community resources.
Dietitians - Evaluates a patient's nutritional requirements, determines the most appropriate diet, and provide dietary teaching.
Patient & Family - The patient and family are an essential part of the care we provide! Our team works together to make decisions about care and to ensure patient comfort.
