Helping patients with lung disease live longer, better lives.
The goal of our pulmonary rehabilitation program is to help patients with lung disease live better, if not longer, with their disease. It is an individually customized program that includes assessment, diagnosis, therapy, exercise, emotional support, and education.
It attempts to return the patient to the highest possible functional capacity allowed by the disease and one's overall life situation. An interdisciplinary team of healthcare specialists work together to help the patient control or alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life.
The goals of the program are:
- To assist individuals with pulmonary disease in developing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to carry out activities of daily living;
- To increase patient survival, and
- To reduce the economic impact of pulmonary disease on patients, through reduction of acute exacerbations, emergency room visits, and the continued use of medical resources.
Key components include exercise, stress management and nutrition.
Admission to the program is by physician referral. Contact your primary care provider for more information.
