| Aroostook Health Center's Skilled Care Unit is located on a separate wing attached to the nursing home. The Skilled Care Services at the AHC allow more time for recovery for those who have been recently hospitalized. Our highly trained nurses, therapists, and other support staff are experts at helping patients regain their independence so they can return home sooner...and better!
A short stay at the Aroostook Health Center allows patients to confidently relearn daily living skills, recover sooner, and regain the ability to care for themselves upon returning home, thus reducing the likelihood of re-admissions to the hospital.
Specialized Skilled Care Services:
- IV therapy, including PICC lines, Port-a-Cath, and central lines
- Complex wound care, including surgical wounds and pressure ulcers
- Tracheostomy care
- Blood transfusions
- Tube feedings
- Amputation rehabilitation
- Isolation cases
- Ileostomy and colostomy rehabilitation
- Diabetes education and management
- Pain management, including PCA pumps
- Hospice care
