Bringing you the best possible healthcare requires a team effort. During your hospital stay you may meet several members of our healthcare team including physicians, technicians, and other support personnel.
Your physicians are ultimately responsible for your care and the ordering of tests you may need during your stay. They have the authority to direct the other members of the healthcare team in providing your medical treatment. The primary care physician may call upon specialists for assistance.
Mid-level providers (Physician Assistants - PAs, Family Nurses - FNPs, Nurse Midwives, and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist - CRNAs) are licensed healthcare professionals who may provide you with services under the supervision of a physician. Services provided by these professionals may include ordering of tests, physical exams, and healthcare counseling.
Registered Nurses (RNs) provide 24-hour coordination of your nursing needs. In collaboration with you, your physician, and other members of the healthcare team, the RN will develop a plan of care designed to meet your specific needs.
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) work under the direction of RNs in giving injections, applying compresses, changing surgical dressings and administering prescribed drugs. Other duties include taking blood pressures, temperatures, and respiration readings.
Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) and Technicians work under the direction of the RN and perform duties such as recording your vital signs and tending to your personal needs.
Social Workers assist patients and their families with the challenges associated with a hospital stay such as emotional difficulties, lifestyle changes, and personal needs. They are also involved with discharge planning to make sure you receive the care you need after you leave the hospital.
Our Patient Services Advocate can assist you with any concerns you may have regarding the medical service of care you receive. Our Guest Relations Representative can assist you with any questions or concerns you may have regarding issues other than medical services. Volunteers carry out duties throughout the hospital that include delivering flowers and cards, answering questions at the information desk, and escorting patients and visitors. Volunteers give nearly 15,000 hours of their time each year to TAMC and its patients.
Chaplains are available 24 hours a day for spiritual and religious support. If you would like a visit from one of our chaplains dial 0. If you would rather have a visit from your own chaplain, you should let him/her know. Chaplains are welcome to visit at the hospital anytime. |
