The Aroostook Medical Center is pleased to join its EMHS affiliate, The Acadia Hospital in Bangor in sponsoring the Close to Home Campaign, designed to educate the Maine communities we serve about the dangers of opiate abuse. Close to Home is a multi-year effort that will focus this year on getting key messages out to the public.
Opiate addiction is at near-epidemic proportions in parts of Maine and it is destroying the lives of our young people at an alarming rate. The site features printable flyers that communities, public health organizations and individuals can post, informative links to credible websites, a sheet on opiates for teens and parents, and a link to the 2-1-1 site for information on treatment options, among other things.
