A comfortable pace of life. Streams, woods, fields, peace and quiet. Aroostook County offers a flavor of life that is distinctly rural, yet the region is abundant with amenities often found only in larger cities.
Residents take advantage of the four seasons by snowmobiling, hiking, biking, visiting lakes and streams, fishing, hunting, camping, and more. The North Maine Woods, one of the largest working forests in the United States, is located twenty miles west of Presque Isle. Despite the rural nature of the area, residents have access to services typically reserved for urban areas. The Northern Maine Regional Airport provides several commercial flights daily, the Aroostook Centre Mall is a commercial and social center, and the Loring Commerce Centre is a diverse regional center for economic development.
Many of our local school systems are award-winners. The University of Maine at Presque Isle, Northern Maine Community College, Husson College, and The University of Maine at Fort Kent serve the higher education needs of the region.
