All students who are currently in the 8th grade can apply and up to 60 will be invited to attend this four-day camp at Northern Maine Community College in June. The students will experience one-of-a-kind demonstrations and hands-on activities with the goal of building awareness of healthcare career opportunities. A few of the areas they explore and experience first-hand are:

Radiology Pharmacy Physical Therapy
Dietitian Paramedic Occupational Therapy
Nursing Midwifery Respiratory Therapy
Physician Surgical Tech Physician Assistant
Dentistry Lab Tech Nurse Practitioner

TAMC believes this camp experience, coupled with its high school exploration program, benefits
area young people greatly and helps reduce outmigration. TAMC has witnessed how many young
people have chosen to return to Aroostook County for work once they have trained into a profession that allows them to do so. Survivor Aroostook camp is open to every child who has completed 8th grade, regardless of background or ability to pay.
